Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience

The 20/20 Experience - Justin Timberlake

 The Album:

"The 20/20 Experience" is the third studio album by well known American recording artist Justin Timberlake. Released on March 15, 2013 under the record label of RCA Records, as the sequel to his commercially successful second studio album "FutureSex/LoveSounds". The album debuted at number one spot on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 968,000 copies, becoming Justin's second number one album on the chart and best-selling debut week of his career. The album is a lot different than Timberlake's previous albums in terms of lyrics and instrumental use in his songs, apart from that, addition of 10 min songs (which was earlier done by stars like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd) has causes much hype about the album.

 Critics Reviews:

Overall the album received positive  reviews from the critics. With the  album averaging a score of 75 rating out of a normalized rating out of  100 , based on 39 reviews at Metacritic.
According to metacritic : This is the kind of record where everyone will have different favorite song, where what someone calls dull or overlong or indulgent will resonate perfectly with someone else, depending on that listener’s past musical tastes and experiences.
As a complete package, The 20/20 Experience will surely be remembered as one of the first of what will hopefully become a trend in popular music of releasing challenging, experimental, and expertly written material. One can only hope the tried and true methodologies of marketing trite, club-oriented tracks will ultimately disenchant listeners as they realize the possibilities of what could be, especially as the internet R&B innovators continue to force the hand of major labels globally.

Songs You Must Listen:

1) Track NO.9 Mirrors : Simply a heart touching song with elegantly written lyrics and mind blowing videography . The songs really deserve a No.1 spot on Billbord Top 100 Songs. The 8 min 5 second song keeps you with it all along the song. An extremely catchy song that fits perfectly in the sequencing of the album. Justin really has set the tone of the album by spreading out the strengths and stand-outs of the album. It's like, he knows what  listeners want to hear and what they are tired of . It seems to me that when you have these two artists working together, they often get to create inventive tracks that only prove how well they work together. It as if to say their souls are connected to each other and they can understand each others tone and pace, they are just so much connected in the song. One of the best song in the album and surely the one you don't wanna miss

2) Track NO.4 Strawberry Bubblegum : An amazing song, which makes you just jump on your feet and groove to it's beats. A truly wonderful song, shows Timberlake's amazing talent. This song is so much heartfelt and sung so beautifully that any girl will fall for it. A song you must listen to.

3)  Track NO.6  Spaceship Coupe :  This is my vote to become the third single of the album. Justin Timberlake lets his imagination run wild in this track with lyrics that fit exactly what the title suggests. Seldom does a song befit the lyrics so well that the listener does begin to realize how creative Justin Timberlake is with his choice of lines and wordplay. There is also a very cool guitar solo here. “Spaceship Coupe” is a safe bet which will soon receive adequate radio airplay in the coming months.

4) Track NO.5 Tunnel Vision : Producer/artist Timbaland left his thumb print and seal of approval all over this track. The setting is in mid-tempo where we hear Justin Timberlake utilize his falsetto the most than in any other track of the album. There is also richness in the vocals here that I didn’t notice in the other tracks. Timbaland may have supplied the beat but Justin Timberlake definitely carried the track with his distinct and signature style of vocals. i.e., his falsetto. Production wise, if you enjoyed the collaboration of Justin Timberlake and Timbaland in the past, then this track is for you.
Verdict:
This pop star is at his best when leaving intricacies to the music, like the voyeuristic, slightly creepy feeling of all-encompassing infatuation that imbues the swarming "Tunnel Vision", or on "Mirrors", which conveys both the arena-flattening power and pillowtalk intimacy of finding solace in another person across its eight minutes.
I give this album 8.7/10.
